SUSANA FRAZAO PINHEIRO

LOCAL INSIGHT GLOBAL IMPACT - LIGI

Susana has been working in global health for over 15 years, from various perspectives.

Her passion to find solutions to the HIV epidemic led her to join a team working on a clinical trial for an HIV vaccine funded by the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI). Yet the lack of medical infrastructure in so many countries contrasting with the access of businesses to even the farthest villages led her to seek to understand how to combine the reach of private sector approaches with the mission in healthcare.

A Skoll Scholarship on Social Entrepreneurship from the Skoll Foundation/ Skoll Center in Oxford allowed her to pursue an MBA at Oxford SAID Business School to further develop these ideas. After completing her MBA and working as consultant at the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, United Nations, Susana launched Local Insight Global Impact (LIGI).

LIGI aims at finding lasting and innovative solutions to stop the spread and impact of disease globally.
